Backyard flowers

Wow.. I took quite a break!  It is so hard to get back into the swing of things after a long hiatus.

I cannot believe that July is around the corner.  Our state is going to open more up.  I hope folks will be happier.  Right now everyone is anxious to see how school is going to start up in a couple of months.

I not only took a break from blogging, but also my digital planning and crafting which are all of my hobbies.  My son asked me to make a birthday gift for one of his friends.  It’s a simple job.  It’s just a cut and place project.  It might take 15 minutes.  There are some unfinished tumblers sitting in the craft room.  I just need more motivation.

Last week I took a big leap and took a road trip by myself to visit my parents in Missouri.  The social distancing recommendations are much more relaxed there.  I ate 2 meals inside in a restaurant for the first time since March 13th.  I survived this much needed mini vacation.  It was nice to get out of the house.  I’m ready to venture out more.  My husband and I are talking about making a day trip to Iowa this weekend.

I am working on new ideas for this blog.  Please leave me a comment if there is something you would like me to investigate, or anything that would be an interesting topic.

I will be back soon!!

Daily Questions

Last week, I participated in a webinar for my teaching credentials. The training was originally going to focus on summer activities for teachers to provide families of young children that would correlate with continuing  learning goals throughout the summer. The presenters did a wonderful job changing the presentation to fit our present situation with the current pandemic. Not only did the focus include the  students and families, but also the educators.

Several slides from the presentation came off a website where they were downloadable for free.  I saved a few of them.  I was looking at them today, and found one I wanted to share.

“Daily Quarantine Questions”

What am I grateful for today?

Today my son was offered a job on the spot at the first interview.  He also just finished off his second year of college.  I am very grateful for my son.

Who am I checking on or connecting with today?

I have distance myself from many people since all this has began.  I try and check in with my parents via text every day or so.  I guess reading Facebook status makes me feel connected with the world.

What expectations of normal am I letting go of today?

Well today, I did not fix dinner.  My son was out playing disc golf with a friend and my husband was working late.  I have not skipped cooking dinner very often since we’ve been at home.  I really can’t think of how normal is going to be after this is all over.

How am I getting outside today?

I have not been outside today.  Some days are like that.  A couple days a week I walk around the neighborhood.

How am I moving my body today?

Not much today.

What beauty am I either creating, cultivating, or inviting in today?

I am currently creating 2 cups for teacher gifts.  They are turning out pretty cute.  Today I started creating a digital teacher’s planner.  Maybe I can find someone interested in it.

Well, I feel that I didn’t do well with the quarantine questions today.  Tomorrow I will try and do better.  How are you doing?  Are you able to give a positive answer to them?  Maybe it is something you can reflect on as well.  Let me know!

Mother’s Day Thoughts

This Sunday we are celebrating Mother’s Day.  I miss being a mom to young children.  Now they are young adults.  I’m still mothering my soon-to-be 20-year-old son.  We are almost finished with finals week.  He has one more exam and one major project to submit by Sunday night.  After that I do not know what the boy is going to do with his time.

I miss when my kids were young.  I miss their hugs and kisses.  I miss picking out their clothes, driving them places, and seeing their performances either in sports or music.  I love that I have those memories.  My Facebook memories this week are all about proms and high school achievements.

My husband asked me last night what I want for Mother’s Day.  I usually get some kind of lawn ornament and flowers for the yard.  He wants to get new yard lights.  So I know that will be one thing I will receive. He said we could go shopping Saturday at the local Walmart and Menards.  I reminded him we need to get something for his mom too.  It will most likely be something lawn related.

I mailed a homemade card to my mom who lives in Missouri.  I know that she hinted that she wanted me to come down for the weekend.  Unfortunately,  I don’t feel right about leaving town at this time.  I will give her a gift when I do make it down, hopefully in early June.

So what are your Mother’s Day plans?  Will you see your children?  I will be missing my daughter, but hope to talk to her.  I wish that we could video chat.  We will see about that.  Do you have any traditions?   It will be different this year. That is for sure!!

I hope that you have a great Mother’s Day weekend!

May Day

Happy May Day! As a teacher, May Day was a fun day filling up cups with gum drops, popcorn and M&M’s with the children. They enjoyed sneaking around the school and dropping them off for school staff members.  I think the kids enjoyed sampling the goodies along the way most of all.  I would let them make one to take home as well.
This year there will be no fun activities like this in classrooms around here. I hope that the families will continue making May Day baskets this year. It is a social distancing activity as they can be left on neighbors front steps. I know it sure would make my day!
What are some May Day activities have you done in the past? Are you making any baskets today? Please leave a comment and share with me!

Notes

The word for today is note.  I think it’s to go along with their music theme this week.

I started to write a note to Covid19. This was shortly after our governor extended the stay at home order.  It made me very depressed and I had to stop. It was heading me into a very unhealthy destination.

Now we are to stay at home until May 30th.  We are also ordered to wear a face mask in public places after May 1st. So I called my friend and ordered 3.  She is out of elastic and hopes to get some by next Thursday. I might have them by the 1st.

Instead of writing a note to this awful virus that has taken our jobs, education, and freedom away, I’m going to think about music notes.  I am thankful for the tunes that the notes were written for.  It makes my heart happy.  It makes me feel peace.  That is all.

Temple

Today’s word was temple.  Yesterday it was instrument.  I wrote about instruments the day before.

When I think of a temple, I think of setting a beat and keeping it going.  If you go off beat the process is ruined.  That is why I need to write today because I need to keep my temple going.  It has some breaks from time to time and I need to restart.

I have started back to creating cups this week.  I am dividing my day up to creating digital graphics (learning), cup designing and blogging. I started a cup for my son. I am also working on stocking up for a possible vender show later in the year.  I have one friend who has hinted to me that she wants a tumbler with her favorite football team on it.  I’ll start that one soon!  If you are interested in ordering a custom designed tumbler you may comment below or click on the link to my Facebook page and leave a message.

I am also doing simple tutorials on how to use the Cricut machine on my Bearly Blissful Creations page of this website.  Feel free to check it out and leave a comment.

Remember to keep your temple going!!!

Music

The word of the day is Music.  Music has been a huge part of my life.  My mom bought a piano when I was 5 years old.  I remember hearing her play. I started lessons a year or so after she bought it.  I never mastered it. I had difficulty getting both hands going at the same time.

I joined band in the 4th grade.  Piano playing gave me a good head start with band.  I was told the clarinet would be a good fit for me.  I stayed with it all the way through high school.  That was one of my best accomplishments.  I met some super talented people along the way.  In my junior year of high, I was asked if I’d like to play the string base.   That was an interesting experience.

I really enjoyed singing in the choir in middle school.  I learned how to be an alto voice.  Singing in church was also so much fun.  I could not sing a solo, although I always wanted to.  Singing in the youth choir was more my cup of tea.

In college, many of my friends were in band in high school.  I had to take “Teaching Music in the Elementary School.”  Learning to play the recorder was a piece of cake for me.  All of the guys I dated were also in band, at some point of their lives, including my husband.

As an adult, I inherited the family piano.  Both of my kids briefly took piano lessons when they were young and later joined the band.  My daughter played the oboe and flute, and my son played the trombone.  He continues to play in his college pep band.

I cannot imagine my life without music.

Three

I think it’s been 3 days since I’ve written anything. I have been working on learning more about now to use the app Procreate and GoodNotes. It would be great if I could draw. I’m working on learning how to make digital products, like stickers, planners and notebooks. I would like to add those products to my Bearly Blissful Store. It’s going to take some time. Everything is taking time, but that’s all I have these days.
I really don’t know what to write about the number 3.
• I used to teach 3 year-olds. They can be challenging. I miss hearing their laughter and receiving nice hugs.
• It took me 3 years to obtain my master’s degree while working at the same time.
• Bad things happen in 3’s. Three people I know have passed away recently.
• When I was younger I thought I’d like 3 children.
• My brother had 3 son’s.
• I have 3 nephews on both sides of my family.
• Two of my nephews were born on the 3rd of the month.
• I live in a 3 bedroom house.
• I believe in the Trinity, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Okay, enough with the 3’s. I’m going to give you a sneak peek on what I have been working on. It is no way finished, but I think it is a good sight. Let me know what you think.

This is a good start!
